Dixie Pulp & Paper, Inc. seeks a Logistics Coordinator at its Home Office located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Logistics Coordinator enhances Dixie Pulp & Paper’s supply chain by developing plans to promote better service and cost results. This role will have the opportunity to exercise independent judgment and initiative to foster cooperation and communication within departments and with service providers. This position will report to the Logistics Manager.


  • Communicate and coordinate with freight vendors and other departments with the goal of answering questions, solving problems, and meeting needs
  • Negotiate rates with carriers to preserve favorable status for Dixie
  • Continually review transportation rates to keep costs down where possible
  • Handle and resolve all verbal and written correspondence timely, professionally and with a respectful, caring and responsive attitude. This includes phone calls, emails, memos, letters, spreadsheets, BOLs, etc.
  • Prepare various internal reports, memos, letters as needed
  • Inspect and analyze documents and correspondence for accuracy and follow up needed
  • Record details of all transactions, inquiries, comments, complaints and actions taken
  • Maintain freight vendor databases with correct rates, contacts, and contract details
  • Source new vendors for existing and potential business needs
  • Prepare templates for rail shipments and track rail shipments
  • Manage trucking company to include company and driver paperwork
  • Compute LTL rates and track LTL shipments
  • Work independently or in collaboration with others with determination and perseverance while exercising sound judgment with flexibility to complete work in an accurate and thorough manner
  • Utilize computer and various software packages (cieTrade, Excel, Word, Outlook) to complete daily responsibilities



  • 3 to 5 years office work experience in a logistics-related industry preferred
  • Strong decision making and analytical abilities
  • Strong detail orientation and communication/listening skills
  • Strong organizational skills to manage workflow
  • Has a pleasant, patient, friendly and can-do attitude
  • Paper background is a plus
